DSS Arrests Ogun Lawmaker

 Ogun Legislator and 5 Others Are Arrested by DSS in Connection with the Sagamu Secret Cult Murders

Hon. Damilare Bello Mohammed, a member of the State House of Assembly (OGHA), has been detained by DSS agents in Ogun State on suspicion of being involved in the recent violent confrontations between competing secret cults in Sagamu town. Over the previous weekend, eight terrible lives were lost as a result of this brutal conflict.

The politician was detained together with five other people who were allegedly connected to the cult-related violence. The lawmaker had just been chosen to represent Sagamu State Constituency 1 under the People's Democratic Party (PDP) banner. Following a tip-off in the early hours of Thursday, DSS agents conducted a covert operation to arrest the suspects, who have been named as Debbo Animashaun, Bamidele Saheed, Ismaila Onitire, Adewale Otesanya, and Tobi Owoade.

Lekan Adeniran, the governor's chief press secretary, said in a statement that the DSS had been tracking the six suspected cult members since Wednesday and had led them to the legislator's official residence, where it is alleged that he provided them with shelter. The suspects are still being questioned while being remanded in DSS custody, according to Adeniran's statement. During their arrest, a sizable number of hazardous weapons, including firearms, reportedly were seized.
